About 25 retail contracts worth over $1.9 billion were awarded across the GCC in 2025, a marginal 2% increase compared to 2024. Overall, Saudi Arabia accounted for 52% of the total, followed by the UAE at 43%. Meanwhile, the largest awards were Masar Mall in Makkah and Aljada Madar Mall in Sharjah, worth over $1.3bn combined.

The total value of retail contracts awarded in the GCC in 2025 was dominated by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which together accounted for around 95% of the total. Since 2016, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have accounted for 82% of total retail contract awards, contributing 41% each.
