TAQA Energy/ADNOC - Ruwais Cogeneration Plant
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) are undertaking the construction of a cogeneration plant named âProject Voltaâ in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, the UAE.
The capacity of the power plant is 300 MW. The project will serve the TAâZIZ derivatives complex and Ruwais petrochemical plants, supplying utilities such as power, steam, cooling, water treatment, and effluent services. It encompasses multiple utility systems including powerhouses, substations, desalination, demineralisation, effluent treatment, and water polishing units. The plant also features like gas turbines alongside infrastructure works such as cooling towers, access roads, and transmission lines. It aims to support the expansion of petrochemical production at Ruwais.
The steam and power cogeneration facility will supply electricity to the plants built at the Ruwais petrochemical complex about 220 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi city.
The US$1,000 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of powerhouses
2. Construction of substations
3. Construction of a cooling tower
4. Construction of access roads
5. Construction of parking facilities
6. Laying of transmission lines
7. Installation of gas turbines
8. Installation of generators
9. Installation of steam turbines
10. Construction of desalination plant with a capacity of 19,880 cm/d
11. Construction of demineralization plant with a capacity of 13,440 cm/d
12. Construction of condensate polishing unit with a capacity of 5,370 cm/d
13. Construction of effluent treatment plant with a capacity of 8,109 cm/d
