GCPI - Al-Faw IWPP
General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) is planning to undertake the construction of the Al Faw Power and Desalination Plant in the Basra Province of Iraq.
The US$3400 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of 3000MW power plant
2. Construction of a desalination plant with a capacity of 1,250,000m3/day
3. Installation of water transmission pipelines for the distribution of the desalinated water to the cities of the Basra Governorate
4. Site preparation and earthworks for the IWPP plot
5. Construction of a thermal power generation plant and auxiliaries
6. Installation of fuel supply and fuel handling systems
7. Construction of water production and treatment facilities
8. Installation of intake, storage, and distribution pipework
9. Construction of electrical substation and grid connection works
10. Installation of control systems, instrumentation, and SCADA
11. Construction of administration, workshop, and warehousing facilities
12. Testing, commissioning, and reliability run of power and water units.
