Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE), is undertaking the construction of a new Independent Water Producer (IWP) plant in Fujairah, the UAE.

The new large-scale desalination plant with total capacity of 60 million imperial gallons per day (60 MIGD) is located at the Port of Fujairah on the Gulf of Oman. The facility will convert seawater into potable water and provide water for homes, businesses and industry, using Seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) technology to support growing demand across the UAE. It will include intake and outfall marine systems, pretreatment facilities, RO membranes, post-treatment, and pumping infrastructure. The plant will function under an IWP model, with private sector participation for design, construction and operation, while meeting sustainability goals such as reduced energy use.

The project will be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
