ADNOC Offshore is planning to undertake the construction of a gas compression system for the Umm Shaif Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting Development in the northwest of Abu Dhabi, the UAE.

This project enhances the Umm Shaif field by adding a gas cap and introducing surface pressure boosting systems to increase output. It uses large-scale compression technology, new wellhead towers, separation units and subsea pipelines to both capture associated and non-associated gas and raise condensate volumes.

The aim is to lift gas production by about 600 million cubic feet per day (cf/d) and raise condensate output by around 50,000 barrels per day, feeding approximately 520 million cf/d of the additional gas into the ADNOC Group sales grid. The outcome is a stronger gas supply, better reservoir pressure maintenance and improved recovery from the Khuff formations.

Offshore package 1 – fabrication of a 30,000-tonne gas compression system

The US$1570 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of offshore fabrication gas compression

2. Construction of topside modules & compression

3. Construction of a gas processing and separation platform

4. Construction of surface pressure boosting (SPB) platform

5. Construction of support platforms and modules and injection infrastructure

6. Installation of electrical, instrumentation, control, and safety systems

7. Installation of interconnects to existing production and processing infrastructure

8. Construction of associated offshore facilities
