EWEC - Al-Nouf 1 Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) IPP 3300 MW
Emirates Water & Electricity Company (Ewec) is undertaking the construction of a 3.3 GW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power generation plant in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.
The project is located at the Al-Nouf complex, 30 kilometres southwest of the city of Abu Dhabi.
Once completed, the project will have a net generation capacity of approximately 3,300 MW.
The US$3,300 million project includes the following:
1. Installation of gas turbines
2. Installation of heat recovery steam generators
3. Installation of steam turbine generators along with air coolers
4. Construction of gas storage facilities
5. Construction of combustion chambers
6. Construction of powerhouses
7. Construction of substations
8. Construction of a cooling tower
9. Laying of transmission lines
10. Installation of generators
11. Installation of command and control systems
12. Installation of related facilities

The main contract bids have been submitted on the project. The JV of Aljomaih Energy and Water Company and China Energy Engineering Corporation, the JV of Orascom and Sumitomo have submitted the bids.

Emirates Water & Electricity Company (Ewec) has issued a request for statements of qualifications (SOQs) from firms for a contract to develop the project and interested developers are expected to submit their SOQs by March 20, 2025. Ewec aims to issue the request for proposals before the end of March 2025, and the estimated bid submission deadline will be in late August 2025.
