Saudi Aramco is planning to undertake the construction of two wellhead platforms and one water injection tie-in platform for the Safaniya oilfield, Saudi Arabia.

This project aims to build two new wellhead platforms, a water injection tie-in platform, and associated pipelines and subsea valve skids to support production and maintain reservoir pressure.

The platforms will include production deck modules (PDMs)/wellhead platforms and a water injection tie-in facility, with subsea pipeline tie-backs and mechanical hook-ups. By installing water injection systems and new production platforms, the project intends to enhance oil recovery in the mature Safaniyah field, stabilise output levels, and extend the field’s productive life. Key outcomes include improved reservoir pressure support, increased production capacity (especially from wellheads served by the new platforms), and strengthened offshore infrastructure resilience.

The US$200 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a water injection tie-in platform and two production deck modules (PDMs)/wellhead platforms

2. Installation of associated pipelines, subsea valve skids, and hook-ups

3. Construction and installation (EPCI) of the platforms and pipelines

4. Fabrication of structural steel, decking, modules and platform jackets

5. Installation of mechanical, electrical, and control systems

6. Subsea works, including tie-in of pipelines to platforms

7. Installation of subsea valves and manifolds

8. Offshore transportation and installation of platform modules and pipelines using specialised vessels

9. Construction of supporting facilities
